Ospreys increase in number

The US Department of Defense has ordered two additional MV-22B Ospreys.
 

March 8: The US Department of Defense has added two additional MV-22B Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft to its current multi-year production contract with the Bell-Boeing Joint Project Office at Amarillo, Texas.

The $117 million extra will bring the contract total to 143 aircraft to be delivered by May 2014. Total US Marine Corps requirement is for 360 MV-22Bs with 162 ordered to date, the most recent contract being the current one announced on March 28, 2008. Eighty-three aircraft are now in service.
